As engineers we see our challenge in developing luminaries which radiate optimum light on the operation table. Surgeons shall be enabled to diagnose with certainty and without be tired. To meet their demands as good as possible EMA-LED has developed its luminaries in close cooperation with health professionals. The perfect luminary used in surgeries should cover several features:

Our solution: surgery lamps made by EMA-LED are using high performance diodes (LED’s). Unlike bulbs, LED’s do not emit heat. The light of LED’s is almost monochrome and the spectral range which is covered does neither imply to infrared nor to ultraviolet radiation – thus it is called “cold light”. LED’s provide endurance of about 30.000 hours of operation. Brightness decreases at the end of this time, but the diodes do not break or fail all of a sudden. LED’s are insensitive to tremor and will not blow or implode.
Within our lamps these diodes are arranged in functional groups and focussed by reflectors. Optimal adjustment causes maximum brightness and depth as well as a maximum of shadowless illumination. Illumination intensity and size of the operating field will be adjusted either by panel at the light head or optional by wireless remote control. To generate a consistent colour temperature of 4.200 Kelvin and colour rendering index of 92 Ra several filters are used. This specific filtering system has been designed by EMA-LED. It is patent-registered and will not be available by other manufacturers.
